European Publishing Awards 2024: "WirtschaftsWoche" is Magazine of the Year

“WirtschaftsWoche” is the European Magazine of the Year 2024. The jury of the European Publishing Awards honored the magazine from Düsseldorf and particularly emphasized the relaunch, "which has visually raised the well-crafted title to a new level. Images, illustrations and infographics are used in an exemplary manner in a coherent overall concept. The team has set highlights in the cover design and in the presentation of individual stories."

“Gruppetto – Das Magazin für Radsport und Velokultur“ was named Newcomer of the Year. The Swiss magazine published by Amici della Bici GmbH from Zurich "consistently brushes its special interest topic against the grain". According to the international jury of experts, it impresses with its "extraordinary visual language and offers unusual approaches to topics beyond the clichés that are not uncommon in sports journalism". The small team plays its niche with great passion.

As Special Recognition of the Year, two projects represent the great diversity of independent titles in the independent segment: The Spanish “MaMagazin” from Madrid focuses on the topic of motherhood and shows the subject unembellished beyond stereotypes. “Fozzie18” from Hansby Reis Communication AB in Landskrona, Sweden, is aimed at lovers of independent music and was able to score points with its straightforward aesthetics.

“Correctiv” is the European Digital Publishing Platform of the Year 2024. In selecting the media company, which is based in Essen and has a site in Berlin, the jury primarily emphasized the importance of high-quality research for societies in Europe, irrespective of publishing business models.

A total of 300 entries from 13 European countries competed in the magazine and digital categories. The 89 winners will be presented and awarded prizes at the European Publishing Congress on June 19 and 20 in Vienna.

With the European Publishing Awards, the specialist media publisher Oberauer (Salzburg) and newspaper designer Norbert Küpper (Düsseldorf) annually honor the best media in Europe. The best daily and weekly newspapers were already announced at the turn of the year.
